Why supplement body contouring surgeries with liposuction?
11/11/2024
Body contouring surgeries are highly effective in addressing excess skin and reshaping the body. However, to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing and balanced results, I often complement these procedures with liposuction (commonly called lipo). Combining body contouring surgeries with lipo creates more natural, smoother, and longer-lasting results. By targeting both excess skin and stubborn fat deposits, patients can achieve the sculpted body they desire in fewer surgeries with better overall outcomes.
Better Sculpting for Natural-Looking Results
One of the primary goals of body contouring surgery is to restore natural proportions. However, fat deposits in certain areas can distort these proportions. Lipo enhances my ability to sculpt the body, creating a more natural transition between different areas. This ensures your body looks proportionate and balanced, enhancing your overall aesthetics.
Reduction of Irregularities
When I perform body contouring surgery, there is always a slight risk of irregularities in the skin’s appearance. These could include lumps, bumps, or unevenness. Including lipo minimizes these by letting me smooth out the surrounding tissues, thereby reducing visible irregularities or indentations. The combination leads to more even, flawless results.
Improved Skin Retraction
Combining lipo with body contouring is a great way to enhance your skin’s ability to retract after surgery. By removing fat and tightening the skin simultaneously, your body is better able to adapt to its new shape.
Increased Confidence
When body contouring is performed alone, it may not address all of a patient’s problem areas, particularly those with stubborn fat. Adding lipo into the mix can improve long-term satisfaction with your results. My removing fat in strategic areas, patients often feel more confident about their appearance because they know their results are more comprehensive and likely to last longer.
Procedures
Let’s look at three popular procedures where I most often include lipo and why:
Tummy Tucks
Liposuction of the flanks and back combined with a tummy tuck is a popular combination that addresses multiple areas in a single surgery. The procedure not only removes fat but also addresses loose skin and muscle laxity in the abdomen. This combination helps achieve a more defined waistline and a flatter, firmer abdomen, giving your body a balanced and aesthetically pleasing contour. I sculpt the entire torso area, providing a smooth transition from the back and flanks to the abdomen, achieving a natural and balanced look.
- Flanks (love handles): For lipo in this area, I focus on removing excess fat deposits from the sides of the waist. For these stubborn fat pockets, lipo helps to achieve a more sculpted and slimmer waistline.
- Back: I also target fat pockets on the upper and lower back. This helps create a smoother appearance by reducing bulges and rolls, especially around the bra line and lower back.
Breast reduction
Breast reduction surgery entails removing breast skin and tissue. When I add lipo, I can also focus on the anterior bra fat pad — the area of fat located near the armpits and above the breast tissue. This technique is especially useful for women who experience discomfort due to excess fat in this region or for those seeking a more sculpted, proportionate appearance.
- Improved Contouring and Shape: By removing excess fat, the breast and upper body helps create a smoother transition between the chest and arms.
- Natural-Looking Results: Lipo allows for precise sculpting, often resulting in a more natural breast shape and overall silhouette.
- Relief from Discomfort: Many women with excess fat in the bra pad area experience discomfort from tight-fitting bras or irritation from skin folds, and strain on shoulders and neck. Lipo can help relieve these.
Top surgery
Top surgery combined with liposuction of the lateral chest wall and anterior bra fat can enhance the aesthetic outcomes and improve the overall chest shape. This combined procedure can contribute to a more athletic or lean appearance, especially for individuals aiming for a more sculpted look.
- Lateral Chest Wall: Lipo in this area removes excess fat extending from the underarm to the lateral chest area, creating a more defined, contoured appearance that enhances the chest’s flat look.
- Anterior Bra Fat: Lipo here removes the small fat deposits near the armpits, which will otherwise look bulgier that might detract from a smoother, flatter chest post-top surgery.
