Breast Augmentation: Get Summer Ready

Summer is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to get ready. That means if you have the breast enhancement procedure you want now, you can look amazing in time for summer and beyond. There are various reasons women choose breast augmentation surgery, including:

• Enhance your appearance if your breasts are small.
• One breast is smaller than the other.
• Adjust breasts after pregnancy or significant weight loss.
• Correct uneven breasts after previous breast surgery.

Of course, there is more than one way for you to have the breast profile you crave. Here we discuss breast augmentation with implants and fat-transfer breast enhancement.

Breast augmentation with implants

When selecting implants for your augmentation surgery, you choose your size and shape, implant fill, and location.

Implant fill

• • Gummy Bear Silicone implants are teardrop-shaped and filled with a thick gel. They have a soft, natural feel. These may be a great choice for you if you want less fullness at the top and a natural droop at the bottom of your breasts.
  • Saline implants are inserted empty and then I fill them with saline solution. Because of this, the incision site is usually smaller and less noticeable. Sometimes, implant folds may cause “rippling” under the skin and, therefore, not a good choice if you have thin chest skin.

Your options include under the muscle (subpectoral) and above the muscle (subglandular).

There are also three incision location options: Under your arm (transaxillary); around your nipple (periareolar); and the crease under your breast (inframammary).

Fat transfer breast augmentation

Fat transfer is an option for women who are looking for a relatively small increase in breast size, typically about 1/2 – 1 cup size, as well as for correcting minor asymmetry. This technique achieves results that look and feel extremely natural. This is a 3-step procedure involving using liposuction to remove fat from one area of your body and injecting it into your breasts.

1. Lipo: I make a small incision in the donor area where there is fat to use — typically the abdomen, love handles, back, and thighs. Imagine you can get rid of unwanted fat and use it where you want it!
2. Purify: The harvested fat gets purified and ready for use.
3. Inject: I take this purified fat and strategically inject it into your breast tissue to make your breasts larger, proportionate, and natural looking.

Other breast enhancement procedures

You aren’t looking for breast augmentation, but aren’t happy with how your breast look? That’s okay. We have other surgical options for you.

Breast Lift

Are you breasts sagging and/or nipples pointing downward? A breast lift — also known as mastopexy — is a great way to restore your breasts’ youthful appearance. It changes your breasts’ shape and repositions them. To raise your breasts, I remove excess skin and reshape the tissue. As needed, I elevate the nipple and areola higher on the breast mound and tighten any loose skin. It’s important to note that a breast lift won’t significantly change the size of your breasts. That’s why for many of my patients, we combine a breast lift with breast augmentation or breast reduction.

Breast Revision

You had breast surgery to give you the size and shape that’s right for you! However, not all women are satisfied with their initial results. Plus, time or other factors may have created changes that cause you to seek a revision. The goal of breast revision surgery is to improve your initial results, and often to achieve better symmetry, repair capsular contracture, and other unsatisfactory issues. It’s okay to come to me when you had surgery elsewhere. That happens often when women were unsatisfied with their results from a U.S. or even foreign surgeon. No judgment here; just solutions!
