How Does A Brow Lift Work?
Your brow lift procedure at Iteld Plastic Surgery may be performed with traditional anesthesia or narcotics-free medications, depending on your needs and preferences. The incision used in a brow lift is chosen based on the degree of sagging, if the forehead is affected, and the position of the hairline. Some of the many techniques that may be used include:
- Traditional incision
Also called the open lift incision, this puts the incision at the top of the head behind the hairline. This incision not only conceals scars but also provides a certain amount of controlled lifting during the surgery. The open incision is good for those with both a sagging brow and frown lines. The traditional brow lift is the ideal method for patients who are concerned about a receding hairline. - Trichophytic incision
This incision is placed right against the hairline. A trichophytic incision allows significant lift in the brow for patients who have a low risk for hairline recession. - Lateral brow lift
Also called a temporal brow lift, the lateral technique places the incision within the hairline slightly over the temples. A temporal incision permits the outer parts of the brow to be treated and helps sagging that is visible in the outer brow. The lateral technique also helps to correct Crow’s feet. - Endoscopic forehead lift
A more sophisticated approach to brow lift surgery, this technique involves several small incisions beyond the hairline and the insertion of a tool known as an endoscope, which travels to the eyebrow to release its attachments. Using the endoscope's camera, the brow tissue is suspended with stitches to lift the brow to its higher position.
