Brow Lift: is it right for you?
3/28/2022
Some people are born with low foreheads and brows; others find theirs heading south with age. As skin and soft tissues lose elasticity, the distance between eyebrows and eyelashes may shorten. Regardless of the cause, if you don’t like your low or sagging brow and drooping upper eyelids, it may be time to consider a brow lift. This procedure reduces wrinkles, improves frown lines, and places the eyebrows in a more youthful, open position. Let’s look at what is a brow lift and the reasons you may want to have one.
What is a brow lift?
A brow lift — also referred to as a forehead lift — is a surgical procedure that raises the brows and helps restore a more youthful appearance to the forehead and eyes. Not just for older people, some of my younger patients also want to elevate their eyebrows and open their upper face. It can improve your forehead’s appearance, the brow, as well as the area around your eyes. This is a great way to reverse the effects of gravity and tighten the forehead’s soft tissues. I often perform it in conjunction with other facial surgeries, such as a facelift or eyelid procedure.
Why a brow lift?
Here are common issues patients have that make them a good candidate for a brow lift.
- You’re tired of looking angry and tired all the time. A brow lift can help you to look more relaxed and youthful by elevating the brows and reducing deep forehead furrows.
- Injectables and fillers don’t do enough. Wrinkle Relaxers, other neuromodulators, and fillers are great for making temporary subtle facial improvements. But they may not accomplish what you want or do as much as they once did.
- A longer-term solution sounds great. We love seeing you for your injectable and filler appointments but also want you to have the best solution. A brow lift can give you years of a younger and more refreshed you!
How is a brow lift done?
A brow lift does just that — lifts the skin and tissue around the forehead and eyebrow areas. In some cases, the muscle may also need to be repositioned, and excess skin removed. Performed under general anesthesia, there are several surgical techniques for performing a brow lift, and the one I use is determined by what each patient needs. Typically, I create two or three small incisions placed inconspicuously. These sutures are usually removed 7 – 10 days following surgery.
