Kybella Alternatives: Modern Options for Double Chin Reduction
7/10/2026
A fuller area under the chin can make you look heavier, older, or less defined, even when you’re at a healthy weight. For years, Kybella® was a popular non-surgical option for reducing fat beneath the chin. While it helped many patients improve submental fullness, aesthetic medicine continues to evolve.
Many patients assume a double chin is caused entirely by excess fat, but that’s only part of the story. Excess fat, loose skin, genetics, loss of jawline definition, and aging all contribute to fullness beneath the chin. The key is identifying what’s causing the fullness and matching it with the treatment best suited to your anatomy and goals.
Today, I use a variety of treatments to address excess fat, skin laxity, and contour concerns that contribute to a double chin.
The best treatment for a double chin isn’t determined by the amount of fat alone. Skin quality, jawline definition, and overall facial balance all play an important role.
Morpheus8: Improving Mild Laxity and Skin Quality
For patients with only a small amount of fullness beneath the chin but noticeable skin laxity or crepey texture, Morpheus8 is an excellent option.
Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin quality. While it doesn’t provide the same degree of contouring as more advanced treatments, it improves firmness, texture, and definition in patients with mild laxity.
QuantumRF: Tightening and Refining the Neck
For patients who need more contouring and tightening than Morpheus8 can provide, QuantumRF is an excellent next step.
By delivering radiofrequency energy beneath the skin, QuantumRF helps reduce fat while tightening and contracting tissue from within. With minimal downtime, it improves jawline and neck definition, effective for patients with submental fullness and moderate skin laxity.
Neck Liposuction: The Gold Standard for Excess Fat
If excess fat is the primary concern and skin quality remains relatively good, neck liposuction remains the gold standard.
Unlike injectable treatments, liposuction physically removes unwanted fat during a single procedure, creating more immediate and often more dramatic contour improvement. For many patients, it provides the most predictable path to a cleaner, more defined jawline.
When a Neck Lift Is the Better Option
If significant skin laxity, muscle banding, or more advanced aging changes are present, a neck lift provides the most natural and lasting improvement.
Surgery allows me to address multiple concerns at the same time, creating a smoother transition between the face, jawline, and neck. I may combine it with liposuction or other facial rejuvenation procedures to create a more balanced result.
Finding the Right Solution for Your Neck and Jawline
Some patients achieve their best result with Morpheus8. Others benefit more from QuantumRF, FaceTite, , liposuction, or a neck lift. The right approach depends on your anatomy, skin quality, and treatment goals.
During your consultation, I’ll evaluate the factors contributing to fullness beneath your chin and recommend the treatment plan best suited to achieve a more defined jawline and neck contour. Whether that involves a minimally invasive procedure or surgery, the goal is the same: a natural-looking result that fits your face.
