Are you feeling frustrated by the age-related changes you see in your face? Not ready or don’t want a facelift, but would still benefit from a lift to your midface? Fortunately, Silhouette InstaLift may be the right option for you. Silhouette InstaLift is an in-office FDA-cleared rejuvenating procedure. It uses absorbable sutures — advanced Micro-Suspension Technology™ — that provide an immediate lift and a gradual boost in natural collagen production. More collagen means more firmness to offset the effects of aging and gravity.

How we perform InstaLift

We perform InstaLift in our office, using a local anesthetic to numb the area before treatment. The actual procedure, not including numbing time, takes less than an hour for the sutures to be inserted into the skin, where they serve to hold the skin securely in place. We make Pro-Nox available for patients feeling anxious about the procedure. This is a nitrous oxide delivery system that combines 50 percent oxygen and 50 percent nitrous oxide. It takes effect as soon you inhale, providing a sense of calm.

After your InstaLift procedure

Downtime is minimal. Similar to injections and dermal fillers, there may be some bruising, swelling, pain or tenderness at the treatment site. Most of these dissipate within 24 – 48 hours. You may notice a more youthful-looking appearance that continues to improve over the next six months after your treatment. Long-term results last up to two years.

What you should do after treatment

Apply cold packs immediately after the procedure to minimize swelling. You can take acetaminophen in case of discomfort. We strongly suggest you not wear any makeup for the first 24 hours. For the first week, sleep face-up, in an elevated position on pillows. Be gentle when you wash, shave, and dry your face. Don’t rub or scrub. For the first two weeks, avoid excessive face and neck movements, exposure to direct sunlight and UV light, as well as participating in high-impact sports. Other considerations include avoiding dental surgery and saunas for up to three weeks and not having facials or face-down massages or other facial aesthetic treatments for up to a month following InstaLift.

Are you a good candidate for InstaLift?

InstaLift is most often recommended for patients seeking a rejuvenated, yet natural-looking appearance, as well as experiencing a loss of elasticity/sagging skin and loss of volume in the mid-face. Many candidates may have previously received injectables, but don’t feel ready for surgery. InstaLift is not an option for patients with known allergies or foreign body sensitivities to plastic biomaterial or in situations where internal fixation is otherwise contraindicated or have very thin/soft tissue of the face.
