Now's a Great Time for Plastic Surgery at Chicago Iteld Plastic Surgery

As the days grow shorter and the temperatures drop, many of us find ourselves slowing down, cozying up, and preparing for the winter months ahead. Late fall and winter often present an ideal opportunity for self-care. For those considering plastic surgery, now may just be the perfect time to take the plunge.

Procedures

Popular procedures I often perform before the holiday season and in winter include:

  • Facelift (Rhytidectomy) – Cooler temperatures make post-surgery swelling and bruising less uncomfortable. Plus, it allows ample time for recovery before the holiday season.
  • Breast Augmentation/Reduction – Since you’ll need to avoid strenuous activities and wear a post-surgical bra for a few weeks, the cooler weather and indoor time help.
  • Liposuction – Fall is a good time for body contouring, as compression garments are more comfortable to wear during the colder months, and there’s plenty of time to see results by the new year.
  • Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) – Patients often want this procedure in fall or winter to allow for full recovery before summer months when people typically wear lighter clothing and show more skin.
  • Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) – ideal for fall because it requires limited sun exposure post-surgery. It also allows you to refresh your look in time for holiday gatherings.
  • Rhinoplasty – Like eyelid surgery, cooler weather helps with recovery by reducing swelling and providing more comfortable conditions for rest.
  • Chemical Peels or Laser Resurfacing – Fall is an excellent time for these facial treatments because it’s easier to avoid the sun while your skin heals, and you’ll look radiant for all those holiday photos.

Benefits of surgery now

Here’s why the next few months offer a prime window for undergoing cosmetic procedures.

Time for recovery

It is extremely important to give yourself adequate recovery time. Many of the procedures I perform —including facelifts, liposuction, and breast surgeries — require time for rest and healing.

Colder weather naturally lends itself to downtime, as many of us spend more time indoors. The holiday season and post-holiday winter months often provide extended breaks from work or school, giving you the flexibility to heal without feeling rushed.

Comfortable, concealing clothing

After surgery, it’s common to experience some swelling, bruising, or bandaging that may last for a few weeks. Sweaters, scarves, and coats are great for concealing these temporary side effects.

Sun avoidance

Sun exposure can cause pigmentation issues, increase the risk of scarring, and prolong recovery times. Shorter days and cooler temperatures mean you’re less likely to spend long hours in the sun, and bundling up in hats and scarves naturally offers added protection.

Summer reveal

By opting for plastic surgery now and through the winter, you’ll have plenty of time to recover and achieve optimal results before summer. By the time swimsuit season is back, you’ll feel confident and ready to show off the new you.

Convenient holiday breaks

For many, late fall and winter offer convenient breaks, whether it’s the end-of-year holidays or the start of a new year. This additional time off from work, school, or other responsibilities can provide the perfect opportunity to undergo surgery without needing to request extended time off.

Self-confidence boost for the new year

Choosing to undergo plastic surgery can align with a desire for self-improvement, helping you feel more confident and empowered as you step into the new year. Whether you’re addressing a lifelong insecurity or enhancing a specific feature, the winter months offer the perfect opportunity for personal transformation.
