Here's Why and How Preparing for Holiday Photos Starts Now
10/9/2026
Holiday photos have a way of showing us things we don’t always notice when we look in the mirror. A heavier jawline. Tired-looking eyes. Changes in facial volume. Skin that doesn’t look quite as smooth or bright as it once did.
If you’ve already been thinking about making a change, those concerns can become more noticeable when you’re looking at photos from parties, family gatherings, and holiday celebrations.
You don’t have to wait until the holidays are here to do something about them. In fact, depending on what you’d like to address, now may be the better time to start.
What Bothers You Most in Photos?
When patients come in for a facial consultation, I don’t begin by recommending a procedure. I want to know what it is that they’re seeing that bothers them.
Maybe your eyes make you look tired even when you’re well rested. Perhaps you’ve noticed jowling or less definition along your jawline. Facial volume loss may be changing the contours of your cheeks, or lines and changes in skin quality may be making you look older than you feel.
Once we identify what’s bothering you, we can determine whether a nonsurgical treatment, surgery, or a combination of approaches makes the most sense.
Sometimes a Small Change Is Enough
Not every concern requires extensive surgery. Neuromodulators can soften expression lines, while dermal fillers can restore volume or refine facial contours. Treatments such as Morpheus8, Alma Hybrid, and Alma Veil can address concerns involving skin texture, tone, laxity, and overall skin quality. For patients who want to restore facial volume, AlloClae offers a minimally invasive option, while facial fat transfer uses your own fat to restore fullness and enhance facial contours.
The key is choosing treatments based on what you actually need rather than trying to treat everything at once.
And timing matters. Some improvements appear relatively quickly, while collagen-building treatments continue working overtime. Beginning before the holiday rush gives those results a chance to develop naturally.
The best holiday photos still look like you, just refreshed, rested, and confident.
When the Concern Is Structural
Nonsurgical treatments can do a great deal, but they can’t correct every sign of facial aging.
If what you’re noticing is significant skin laxity, jowling, changes through the neck, or excess skin around the eyes, surgery may provide the more appropriate solution. A facelift, neck lift, blepharoplasty, or a combination of these procedures can address the underlying structural changes that nonsurgical treatments can’t.
Facial surgery requires more lead time because healing is a process. Although our Smart Recovery™ protocol helps patients get back to feeling like themselves quickly, swelling will continue to subside over the weeks that follow. As your face heals and the swelling resolves, your new contours gradually emerge and your results begin to look and feel more natural.
That’s why patients considering facial surgery for the holiday season shouldn’t wait until November to begin the conversation.
Good Photos Still Look Like You
The objective isn’t to create a different face for the camera. It’s to address the specific changes that have been bothering you while preserving the features that make you look like yourself.
Ideally, when someone sees you at a holiday gathering, they aren’t wondering what you’ve had done. You simply look refreshed, rested, and confident.
