We are pleased to offer various dermal fillers for every need and every patient. Two popular ones are Radiesse and Sculptra. Patients often ask which is better. They are both excellent at addressing signs of facial aging including wrinkles, lines, and loss of volume by promoting collagen growth after you’re injected. Both have minimal discomfort and no downtime.

Let’s look at the advantages of each:

Radiesse

Radiesse is a dual action filler. It provides immediate contouring and volumizing, plus stimulates collagen and elastin production for long-term improvement. Your results develop slowly over time and can last up to 18 months.

Treatment Areas

  • Smile lines (nasolabial)
  • Oral commissures (corner of the mouth lines)
  • Marionette lines
  • Pre-jowl folds
  • Chin
  • Hands

Sculptra

This FDA-approved injectable helps stimulate natural collagen growth to restore facial volume and firmness over time. It works with your body to help rebuild lost collagen. Your results can last up to two years.

Treatment areas

  • Cheek wrinkles
  • Smile lines
  • Marionette lines

The differences

Both are effective in treating the mid-face area, chin wrinkles, and hands. Although there is overlap in treatment areas, there is a significant difference between these dermal fillers; that is how fast results can appear.

  • Radiesse provides an immediate volumizing effect, as well as long-term benefit of extended collagen production. It is a better choice if you want instant skin-lifting results and restoring volume. Best of all, you may need only one treatment.
  • Sculptra is a better choice if you are someone who wants a slower “reveal,” so you never look as if you had any work done. It takes between a few weeks and a month before the desired result is achieved. We recommend a series of treatments for you to reach your optimal goals. You’ll have longer-lasting results and minimal maintenance.

Aftercare

Both Radiesse and Sculptra require no recovery time. You will be able to return to your normal daily activities right after your injection treatment. Sculptra does, however, require a bit more aftercare. For the first five days following injections, we encourage you to give the treated area a few 5-minute massages several times a day. A jade or ice roller is perfect for this. Plus, they feel wonderful while being used!

Radiesse and Sculptra are two of the longest lasting fillers on the market today. Even so, to maintain your results, we recommend you have follow-up treatments at a prescribed period of time.
