BBL: 5 FAQs
Here are the five frequently asked questions we often address with patients as they decide whether to have a Brazilian Butt Lift:
Q: Can I select the areas where I would like you to take the fat for my BBL?
A: I always discuss this with patients in their pre-operative consultations. Most often I liposuction the fat from the abdomen, hips/flanks, and/or lower back. Keep in mind that I will take slightly more fat than injected into your butt because liposuction can damage some fat cells as it removes them and we need only healthy cells to inject. Also, not all cells will “take,” so, when appropriate, I will over-inject fat to compensate for any fat loss that may occur.
Q: How long before I can sit after my BBL?
A: It’s best if you don’t sit directly on your buttocks for the first 2–3 weeks. You may find it most comfortable to sit on a medical donut cushion to avoid putting direct pressure on your buttocks until they heal.
Q: What happens if I gain or lose weight after a BBL?
A: Your buttocks will react similarly to how it behaves now with weight changes. If it doesn’t show much fluctuation with weight changes now, it will be the same afterward. Small weight fluctuations shouldn’t alter the shape or volume significantly, but if you have extreme weight changes, it may affect your results. Let’s discuss this before your procedure so you know what to expect.
Q: When can I resume my exercise routine?
A: As with any surgical procedure, your body needs time to heal. Therefore, it’s best if you wait about six weeks before resuming your workout routine to ensure you’ve given your body time to recover.
Q: Will I need narcotic pain medications after my surgery?
A: NO! Not only is a narcotics-free BBL possible, but it’s our approach! As is the case with many other procedures I perform, my non-opioid protocol works here, too. You will have some discomfort after a Brazilian butt lift, but not pain. This approach gives you time to heal without having to take any opioids. This way, you’ll recover faster.
